Empowering Cambodia’s Child Scavengers with English Education
Project Details
In the streets of Cambodia, many children have no choice but to work as scavengers, collecting rubbish just to survive. This dangerous and unsanitary work not only puts their health at risk but also keeps them from progressing in school, trapping them in a cycle of poverty with few opportunities to build a better future.
Together with Ray of Light Cambodia, Off Paper strives to break this cycle by providing these vulnerable children with access to English education in the community’s outreach school. By learning English, they will gain access to better employment and schooling opportunities.
Through our efforts, we aim to build a brighter future for these children, offering them not only an education but a chance for a better life.

The donations will go towards equipping the school with the necessary tech resources such as a projector and tablets. These tools will be used in classrooms to deliver quality English lessons through the Off Paper learning app.

Funds raised will go towards training the teachers and other staff on how to implement Off Paper's curriculum effectively.

Funds will cover ongoing maintenance costs to ensure the Off Paper learning app functions optimally for the school and enable the curriculum team to continue upgrading and updating the appropriate lesson resources for the children.

Funds may go to supporting the school should they need desks, chairs, whiteboards, and other essential items to create a conducive learning environment.
Additional Info:
This budget covers the start-up costs and maintenance for the first year. After that, ongoing operational expenses will be significantly lower and sustained through our general funds.
This fundraising project is led by Jenny Gan, Off Paper Ambassador.
A lot of us work as scavengers, collecting rubbish to sell to help our families. We make between $1.50 to $2.00 for working 12 hours.
