Author Program

Visiting Author Residency

(Launching Final Quarter of 2024)

There’s a unique magic that comes with having a story read to you. It is an experience that many of our children have yet to experience.

Our Online Author Residency Program offers an exciting opportunity for our children to connect with best-selling authors each month. Through live video chats, these celebrated authors will read their books to the kids, bringing stories to life and inspiring a love for reading and writing.

Program Objectives

Foster a love for reading and writing

Cultivate a community of young readers and writers through consistent, enriching literary experiences.

Encourage creativity

Promote creativity through interactive storytelling and activities that challenge children to think deeply and imaginatively.

Widen worldviews and perspectives

Expand the children’s horizons by exposing them to various cultures, experiences, and viewpoints through literature and author interactions.

Develop critical thinking

Introduce children to the creative minds behind their favorite books, giving them insight into innovative ideas and diverse thought processes.

Program Components

  • Best-selling authors will engage in live discussions and interviews with the children. These sessions offer a unique opportunity for kids to interact directly with their favorite authors, ask questions about the stories, and gain insights into the writing process. These discussions are designed to demystify the world of writing, making it accessible and exciting for young minds.

  • Through various motivational exercises, the program aims to ignite a passion for reading and writing in the participants. These exercises might include creative writing prompts and story-building games and activities from authors. The goal is to encourage Off Paper children to explore their creativity, develop their writing skills, and cultivate a lifelong love for literature.

  • To further support the children’s literary journey, the program will host contests and programs that provide essential supplies, books, and access to writing programs. These contests might involve writing short stories, creating illustrations, or participating in book-themed challenges. Winners and participants will receive books, writing materials, and access to special writing workshops, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed and stay motivated.
